TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Jakarta government will make construction of the capital city’s mass rapid transit system a priority program in the 2009 regional budget.

“The project is to compensate for water-based transportation that does not work,” said Muhayat, regional secretary for the Jakarta government.

Other priority programs for next year include flood management, transportation, health, education, and housing matters.
